Karen Allen Hislop, Occupational Therapist

Karen Allen Hislop, OTR/L, CLT-LANA, DRS, ATP


Training & Education: Karen earned a bachelor of science in Occupational Therapy at the University of North Dakota, and completed her MBA at Troy State University.

Specializations & Certifications: Karen has been practicing occupational therapy for over 20 years and and formed Therapy Achievements in 2009. She has completed extensive training in treatment techniques for individuals with stroke, brain and spinal cord injury, Multiple Sclerosis, ALS, Parkinson’s Disease and lymphatic disorders. Her credentialing includes Certified Lymphedema TherapistNDT PractitionerLSVT BIG PractitionerSaeboFlex Technology PractitionerVitalStim PractionerCertified Driving Rehabilitation Specialist, and Seating Specialist for Wheelchair fittings.  Her vision is to create a company where patients and staff can thrive and reach their potential.

Training & Education:  Cathy received her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Tennessee in Memphis and she has been a Physical Therapist for over 25 years.

Specializations & Certifications:  Her background includes work with patients who have neurological issues such as stroke, brain injury, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, orthopedic issues, pain syndromes, balance problems, and lymphatic disorders. She has taken advanced training in dizziness and vestibular disorders, is certified in the LSVT BIG program, has taken advanced training in lymphatic disorders and is a Certified Lymphedema Therapist .

Training & Education: Cheryl graduated from Colorado State in 1993 with a degree in occupational therapy

Specializations & Certifications: Cheryl has completed substantial training in acute rehabilitation treatment techniques for individuals with brain and spinal cord injuries, stroke, ALS, Parkinson’s diseaseDiabetes, and lymphatic disorders in inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation settings. Her credentials include Certified Lymphedema Therapist. Cheryl’s vision is to help patients achieve a fulfilled and satisfied state in life through the use of “purposeful activity or interventions designed to achieve functional outcomes”

Heather Lovvorn, OT Assistant

Heather Lovvorn, COTA, CLT


Training & Education: Heather Lovvorn, COTA/L, has been practicing as an occupational therapy assistant for 5 years. Heather graduated from Wallace State Community College and earned her degree as an occupational therapy assistant.  Previously, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Special Education from Athens State University.

Specializations & Certifications: Heather has experience across the lifespan from pediatrics to geriatrics.  She has completed extensive training in treatment techniques for individuals with stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, brachial plexus injuries, Multiple Sclerosis, ALS, Parkinson’s disease, and lymphatic disorders. Her credentials includes Certified Lymphedema Therapist. Heather’s goal at Therapy Achievement is to minimize the symptoms and teach her patient’s ways to live a meaningful and purposeful life independently.

Kristen McCombs, OT Assistant

Kristen McCombs, COTA


Training & Education: Kristen received her Associates Degree in Occupational Therapy from Brown Mackie College. Prior to completing her degree in occupational therapy, she worked as a cosmetologist.

Specializations & Certifications: Kristen has experience in treating patients with a variety of diagnosis in adult rehab, skilled nursing facilities, mental health and pediatrics.  She enjoys working with the diversity of patients with different diagnosis here at Therapy Achievements, and particularly likes the personalized attention she is able to give them in the Outpatient setting.

Amanda Bell, Speech Therapist

Training & Education: Mandy received her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology at Valdosta State University in Georgia. 

Specializations & Certifications: She works with patients who have swallowing issues, cognitive impairment, aphasia and difficulty with receptive and expressive language. She is certified in VitalStim and Myofacial release.

Jaime Richardson, Speech Therapist

Jaime Richardson MS, CCC-SLP


Training & Education:  Jaime has a degree in Sociology with minor in Psychology from the University of North Alabama and Master’s in Speech Language Pathology from Alabama A and M University. 

Specializations & Certifications:  Jaime specializes in treatment of dysphagia (swallowing impairment) and cognitive rehabilitation.  She works with people with Stroke, Brain Injury, Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Head and Neck cancer and other disorders.  She is certified in  VitalStim Myofascial Release, and LSVT ( Loud Program) programs.

Training & Education:  Jennie received her bachelors of science in Nursing from University of Alabama at Huntsville and completed the medical assistant program at Virginia College.

 Specializations & Certifications:  Jennie Franklin is the manager and billing specialist at Therapy Achievements. Jennie has 19 years of managing experience. Jennie’s skills and abilities include managing, billing, effective communication, and a variety of technical skills. Previously, Jennie worked as a medical assistant and manager for a podiatric surgeon and a lung specialist.  Her vision for Therapy Achievements is to uphold success and excellence while delivering value added services to obtain a great practice.

 Specializations & Certifications: Tyler is a member of Civil Air Patrol and is awaiting an appointment with the Air Force.  He is currently serving as the Office Assistant at Therapy Achievements.

Specializations & Certifications:  Melissa specializes in schedule management, customer relations, and ensures coordination of services to enable efficient function of our clinic.

 Specializations & Certifications:   She has advanced training in orthopedics, geriatrics and dementia. She is a Certified Holistic Lifestyle Coach and is working on certification as Exercise Coach.

Peggy Baker Herren, OTR/L


Training & Education:  Peggy obtained her bachelor of science in occupational therapy from the University of Alabama.  

Specializations & Certifications:  Peggy has extensive experience in a wide variety of rehabilitation settings.  She has worked in out-patient, assisted and independent living, skilled nursing and hospital settings.  Currently, she works with people with hand injuries, lymphedema, neurological disorders such as stroke, brain injury, Parkinson’s Disease and Multiple Sclerosis.  She is a certified lymphedema therapist, a certified wound care specialist, and is certified in physical agents modalities.
